![]() In Bridge, the field called Y becomes the caption in Smugmug. What we really need is a table that says in Photoshop, the field called X becomes the caption in Smugmug. The reason we are all confused is that while the "official" IPTC tags have names in the spec, the names that appear in each application are not always the same as those. What's annoying is that the "Default" set that Lightroom uses doesn't appear to be customizable, so I have to flip flip flip between different metadata sets to enter all the data if in fact I need to use Headline and not Title. and wonder whether I should use "Headline" instead. I notice that what I use for "Title" does not make it to SmugMug. I'm going to root around, but Andy you could save me some time by a nice RTFM n00b link ![]() That said, I'd appreciate a pointer to all the fields that SmugMug supports, and what they map to. EXIF is camera data, IPTC data is metadata you add yourself (for the most part). People could imbed copywrite strings, Comments, DPI descriptions, tons of stuff. I have found that when using Jalbum I was able to use the IPTC tags entensively (I thought they were called EXIF tags). What other fields might be available for my usage("file info")? I have put HTML in previous comments, do you support this)? Is that field "Description" in that case? Is it case sensitive? Can I imbed anything in this tag or just text (i.e. I'm sorry to be so anal about this but I need details, formats, etc. Will SM use this tag to automatically populate the caption field? Does it have to be in the "file info" tag, is this tag name case sensitive, can I use another tag (like say.caption or Caption)? I believe the version of Jalbum I have can browse through pictures in a folder and stuff in a caption, but I believe it defaults to the "caption" tag (I may be wrong) This has got to be answered somewhere, what exactly are the rules for tags and autoloading of caption on UPload?Īndy, sounds good, thanks.I figured you supported this. I've searched and searched and found only one reference to the "file info" tag in the help file. I don't want to download photos with captions, I want to upload the photos with the captions already in them. I found AlbumFetcher, but this does the exact opposite of what I am trying to do. A side benefit to this is that I can still generate CD/DVD based slideshows to send to my friends/family with Jalbum (many of which have either dial up or no internet believe it or not so SM is out of the question). do all my rotate/shrink/captioning at home and then upload to SM and bingo instant slideshow complete with captions. ![]() I want to do the same thing with SM, i.e. The captions stay with the photos so if I change skins or application I always have the captions that I worked hard to put in. I use it to autogenerate slideshows with captions sucked out of the picture's Exif info. It's stored in the Exif information as a tag (something like that). I've used Jalbum before to add captions directly into my pictures. I've been searching everywere I can find, Dgrin, Help pages, Wiki.I know the info is here but boy it's hidden well. I'm new to SM and want to make my life easy when I upload. I asked this on the API, Hints and Tricks forum, but I think that was the wrong forum as I got no replies, so I'm trying here. ![]()
